In his first interview with Hindustan Times on July 8, after his name was cleared for the post, Kumar had said he would look to use technology to counter graft.

Calling for more resources for the Central Vigilance Commission, Kumar told CNN-IBN, “The (CVC) Act only provides that officers of certain level and above will be handled by the CVC. But there are more cases of corruption and the solution does not lie in not dealing with the cases. What it means is to strengthen the CVC with more resources and people at its command so that it can tackle corruption wherever it exists.”

“Corruption adversely impacts all of us. It distorts our decision-making, leads to distorted priorities and is against good governance. Corruption has to be dealt with ruthlessly and firmly,” he said.

“Lots of things are happening on 2G scam and CWG scam. There is a Shunglu Committee report, there is CVC report and other things are happening. The CVC has recommended action. Those who are to take action are processing that...action will be taken those who are found responsible.”
