Four robbers, posing as courier boys, struck at the house of a 68-year-old woman in South Delhi's Lajpat Nagar-III, held her hostage at gunpoint and decamped with cash and jewellery worth around Rs 5 lakh on Tuesday afternoon.

The robbers gagged the elderly woman with adhesive tape and tied her hands and legs with rope before ransacking her house.

Interestingly, two carpenters, - who were working at the victim's house - and the family's full-time maid were out when the crime happened.

The incident took place around 1 pm when the victim, Shail Gera, opened the door for a man who identified himself as a courier. Three men hiding behind the man then barged into her house and held her hostage.

Police are investigating the possible involvement of an insider.
