Justice S. Ravinder Bhat allowed the plea of Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, the MP from Madhepura, Bihar.

He has been undergoing life term at Tihar jail since February 2005, when a trial court in Bihar convicted him of the murder of Communist Party of India-Marxism (CPI-M) legislator Ajit Sarkar on June 14, 1998.

He has appealed before the Bihar High Court against his conviction.

He was transferred to Tihar jail here following a Supreme Court order to take him out of Patna.
