Dalai Lama to undergo cataract surgery at AIIMS

Tibetan Spiritual Leader, Dalai Lama, visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for an eye check-up on Tuesday.

The 76-year-old, who underwent a cataract surgery in his left eye in January this year, had come to the hospital for a follow- up and is scheduled for another cataract surgery in July.
The cataract surgery involves removing of the clouded lens and replacing it with an artificial lens.
“It was a customary check up a couple of months after the surgery. He underwent a thorough eye check-up, with vision testing, intraocular pressure checking among other tests. He is seeing very well with his operated eye,” said Dr JS Titiyal, who had led the team of operating eye surgeons at the hospital’s Rajendra Prasad Eye centre.
He came to AIIMS around 3pm and stayed at the hospital for more than an hour.
