“With regard to the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, only provisional pay fixation has been done for nurses whereas employees in all other sections are enjoying the new salary scale,” Padma Prakash, Secretary of the Delhi Nurses Union, told PTI.

The nurses of government hospitals across the city, at a meeting yesterday, decided to intensify their agitation from February 16 to meet their demands.

“We will resort to hunger strike, two-hour work and one-day mass casual leave. If the authorities are not considering our demand, then we will launch an indefinite strike from March five,” G K Khurana, General Secretary of All India Government Nurses Federation, said.

The nurses had earlier also held protests on the issue.

The Government maintained that it is looking into their grievances.

“The Health Department has already taken up the issue with the Ministry of Finance. As soon as we get a reply from the Ministry, we will be getting back to the nursing community,” Dileep Kumar, Nursing Adviser, DGHS said.

The nursing professionals of all major hospitals across the city, including Safdarjung hospital, RMLH, LNJP, Railway hospitals, ESI and Police hospitals, are taking part in the agitation.
