The robber has been identified as Ikram alias Raju. He had been evading the police for eight years and had been declared a proclaimed offender (PO) in the case by a city court.
On September 23, 2005, Ikram and five members of his gang had stabbed Kanti Lal Gulyani, a retired Indian army official, when he had tried to resist the robbery.
Gulyani was travelling in a bus on board which he was cornered by the gang.
“When they tried to steal cash from his pocket, Gulyani raised an alarm and caught one of them. To escape, the other robbers stabbed Gulyani and threw him out of the moving bus and fled. Gulyani later succumbed to his injuries,” said Ravindra Yadav, additional CP (crime), adding that Ikram’s five accomplices were arrested long ago by the Janakpuri police.
