Delhi: Three killed as truck overturns on car near IIT

Three people were crushed to death when a dumper truck overturned on a car in Jia Sarai, South Delhi, late on Tuesday night.

Police said the vehicle lost control while trying to avoid hitting a car parked at the turn, and ended up collapsing on another automobile that was waiting near the Jia Sarai petrol pump.

“There were four people inside the car. While two of its occupants died immediately, one died later in the hospital. The car was completely crushed,” said a police officer.

The truck had to be lifted with a crane, he said, adding that a team of fire officials had to cut the car open to pull the occupants out.

The incident resulted in massive jams on the Outer Ring Road, which continued till early Wednesday morning. Details of the accident are still emerging.
