The three discoms — BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna and North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) —have arranged for eight and 10 per cent more power than last winter.

NDPL has tied up with utilities in Meghalaya, Karnataka, Haryana and Gujarat, and private power utilities for uninterrupted supply.

“In winter, the hydro plants of the hills do not produce power because streams and rivers get frozen. So, Delhi has to source power from elsewhere,” said a power department official.
