Enraged over his constant objection to her extra marital affair, a 33-year-old woman allegedly strangled her husband to death after hitting him on the head in Gokulpuri on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Dhanpal, 43, a technician in a Noida-based private company.

Police arrested Dhanpal’s wife Uttam Devi after a case of murder was registered against her based on a statement by Dhanpal’s niece who was present at the time of the murder.

A senior police officer said the matter came to light around 9am after Dhanpal’s niece called the police. During interrogation, the officer said the woman revealed that she was having a bitter married life.

“Investigation revealed that Devi was having an illicit relationship with someone known to her husband. Dhanpal objected to it,” the officer said. Three days ago, the officer said, the couple had had a heated argument over the same, and Devi called her relatives who beat up Dhanpal.
