Nilgai (boselaphus tragocamelus) - also called blue bull -is a commonly found variety of antelope. The two male bulls had a raging fight two days ago, when one hit the other so hard that its intestine came out. These animals are housed at beat number 9 of the Park, also called as Delhi zoo.
Although zoo director Amitabh Agnihotri expressed grief at the loss of one nilgai, he said the zoo had ample number of animals of this species.
As on March 2012, the zoo had about 11 male and 25 female nilgai.
