Fashion designer Shaina NC visited the Arts Faculty in Delhi University to urge students to vote. “Till you vote, you cannot complain about the government. As educated youth, you must participate in the political process. When you vote you will also motivate others to vote, ” Shaina told students.
“I agree with her completely, and I will vote,” said Manoj Mandal, a M.Phil student.
Though she did not tell students to specifically vote for her party, when students mentioned they supported BJP, she encouraged them. “You should join us,” she told them.
For someone from the world of fashion, how does she fit into politics? “I was a political science and law student, I understand how important it for one to participate in the country’s political framework. Moreover, my father has been a social activist for 40 years, so it was also his influence. I keep telling people that ‘NC’ in my name stands for ‘Non-Corruptible,’” Shaina said.
“The fashion industry is not all about glamour and ignorance,” Shaina protested.
Best known for draping sarees in innovative ways, Shaina said Mayawati is the politician who needed a makeover. “She would look great in a nice saree,” she said, while praising Sushma Swaraj’s impeccable style.
