Dikshit convened a meeting on Friday to take stock of the number of non-functional streetlights in the city. She stressed the need for 100% functional street lights.

"Despite installation of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, the percentage of functional street lights has not improved," said Dikshit.

Dikshit instructed the chief secretary to come out with a mechanism after detailed consultations with all the agencies concerned to ensure well-lit roads.

Eight agencies are involved in street lighting works.

"The roads transferred by the three corporations and other major PWD roads need attention."
