DJB to clean up Yamuna for fest

The Delhi Jal Board has decided to release 150 cusec of water into River Yamuna to clean it for Chhat Puja, which will be observed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The water will be released from its storage.

Delhi Revenue Minister AK Walia on Monday took round of a few Chhat ghats along the river in view of the ceremonies to be held in the Capital.

The Delhi Police have been requested to install CCTVs in order to provide fool proof security at the ghats. The Revenue Department has made arrangements to deploy boats and divers at ghats for rescue operations in case of an emergency.

The MCD has on its part has cleaned up the wards and has also improved lighting of the area. They have also removed debris from the bank and have employed machines to level the grounds in some areas. “We have been working towards maintenance of proper sanitation for the last three days,” said an MCD official.
