DTC buses witness less number of breakdowns

The fleet utilisation of DTC buses has witnessed a 5% decrease but the rate of breakdown of its buses came to an all-time low, due to the introduction of its new swanky low-floor buses that were inducted a few years back, HT reports.

The fleet utilisation of DTC buses has witnessed a 5% decrease but the rate of breakdown of its buses came to an all-time low, due to the introduction of its new swanky low-floor buses that were inducted a few years back.

In its annual report for the year 2010-11, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) said that it has a total fleet strength of 6204 buses as on March 31, 2011 and its fleet utilisation was 75.03% as against 80.99% the previous year.

The operational ratio (ratio of actual trips to scheduled trips) in 2010-11 was 79.13% as against 75.75% in 2009-10.

"The corporation has achieved kilometre efficiency of 79.67% in 2010-11 as against 75.75% in 2009-10," stated the report which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly.

The report further pointed out that the rate of breakdown of buses was 1.77 breakdowns per 10,000km as against 2.34 breakdowns per 10,000km in 2009-10.

In addition to this, the accident rate too has come down to 0.07 during 2010-11 as against 0.09 in 2009-10, the report said.

The traffic income per day during 2009-10 was Rs. 1222.39 lakhs whereas the income in 2010-11 is Rs. 213.86 lakh.
