DTC launches drive to check indiscipline

Starting Thursday, teams of senior DTC officials will check moving DTC buses and will take feedback from passengers about the way the buses were being driven and the staff behaviour.

"The checking drive will start from July 20 and will continue till July 31. The main thrust of the drive is to ensure that the buses follow proper time table, the behaviour of the staff towards the passengers is courteous and all traffic rules are followed," said a senior DTC official.

DTC officials said there have been complaints of speeding, negligent driving, not stopping buses at the designated bus stops and drivers using mobile phones while driving.

Low- floor buses being driven with open gates, improper parking, cleanliness of buses, torn seats and non-functional ACs are some of the common complaints that the DTC teams will look into.

New additions

Delhi Transit — popularly known as 'cluster bus scheme’ — added seven new buses on Thursday. The total number of buses that operate under this scheme has now touched 300.

According to officials of Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMMT), the new route will connect four metro stations including Kashmere Gate and New Delhi railway station, apart from important landmarks such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Daryaganj and trans-Yamuna neighbourhoods.
