Express trains collide; five injured

At least five passengers have been injured, when two Express trains running on the same track met with rear collision in the national capital region.

At least five passengers were injured on Tuesday when two Express trains running on the same track met with rear collision in the national capital region, Railway officials said.

The incident took place at around 6 am when Padmawat Express hit Kalindi Express, which was running on the same track, from behind between Anand Vihar and Sahibabad railway stations, officials said.

Initial reports said that four to five people were injured and they were rushed to a nearby hospital, they said, adding further details are awaited.

The rear coach of the Kanpur-Bhiwani Kalindi Express was derailed due to the impact of the collision.

The rail traffic on the route was disrupted.

Rescue teams and senior officials have rushed to the spot, they added.
