FARIDABAD: Residents of Faridabad celebrated after its name made it to the list of 13 smart cities released by Union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday.

“We are happy our efforts have yielded results. Now within four to six months, we will prepare a development policy review (DPR) and according to our plan, development will be visible after six months,” said Aditya Dahiya, commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Faridabad.

“We will receiveRs980 crore from the government and we will generate Rs 1,620 crore on our own,” he said, adding, “Very soon we will receiveRs198 crore from the central government and Rs 200 crore from the state to prepare the DPR”.

“I left no stone unturned to pursue the case of Faridabad and results are there to see for every body,” Gurjar said.

The revival of Badkhal Lake, development of weekend eco tourism, smart toilets, solar rooftops, underground cabling, smart solid waste management, revamping of seweragenetworkinfrastructure— are some of the highlights of the final upgraded Rs 2,600 crore Smart City Proposal to develop Faridabad.

“After getting Smart City tag, I am confident Faridabad’s development will match with other NCR towns of Gurgaon and Noida,” said AS Gulati, secretary-general of Confederation of Resident Welfare Associations of Faridabad.
