Northwest Delhi gets its first multi super-specialty hospital, with Fortis Healthcare opening a 550-bedded branch at Shalimar Bagh.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and Union minister of education and telecom Kapil Sibal on Tuesday inaugurated the hospital building.

Spread across 7.5 acres area, the hospital will provide tertiary care in cardiac, neuro (including spine), orthopaedics, renal, gastroenteritis and other specialties. There is also a dedicated replacement unit.

The state-of-the-art medical equipment in the super-specialty hospital, especially in the radiation department, provides far less radiation exposure to the patients and staff.
