Domestic passengers will have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF), ranging between Rs. 200- Rs.460 and international passengers will have to cough up between Rs. 430 and Rs. 1,068. While passengers taking flights from Delhi airport already pay an Airport Development Fee, the additional UDF will now have to be paid by incoming passengers too.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) had on April 25 decided to raise airport charges, apart from UDF, by a staggering 346 per cent for two years. Airlines protested the move, saying tthe passengers will have to bear the brunt of the hike. AERA's decision has been ratified by the government and notified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, official sources said.

The UDF rates applicable from May 15, will go up further next year, as per the AERA order.

Passengers will have to pay even more with the airport’s landing and parking charges to be hiked soon. Airlines are expected to pass on the additional burden to the passengers and a hike in ticket prices is imminent. The hike includes fee for landing, parking, navigation, fuel and use of CUTE (Common User Terminals).
