Entry to the venue will be free for all visitors and the cost of their tickets will be borne by the state government, said Bihar’s industrial development commissioner CK Mishra during the curtain raiser of the programme on Wednesday.

The free tickets will be available till March 28.

On display will be Bihar’s Madhubani paintings, Tikuli art, woven pieces of Bhagalpuri silk, Aplic saree, along with an array of designer jute jewellery and bamboo art pieces.

“The purpose of the event is not only to celebrate Bihar’s anniversary, but to also share our pride with the Biharis living out of the state as well as with those who want to explore various aspects of Bihar,” Mishra said. A parallel function is also being held in Patna, the commissioner added.

Bihar governor Devanand Konwar will inaugurate the Dilli Haat festival on Thursday at 5pm.

Visitors can also enjoy cultural shows that will be held every evening from March 22 to 27 and from March 24 to 25 at Expo Centre, Noida.

A total of 40 stalls will exhibit traditional foods, handicraft and arts during the event. The exhibition will continue till March 31.

On the penultimate day of the festival, Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari Mirdul will perform at Siri Fort Auditorium.

“We will be exhibiting tourist places, the state’s natural beauty as well as our past achievements through the festival,” Mishra said.

Apart from traditional Bihari cuisines and desserts, food stalls will also offer the visitors a wide range of milk products of the Bihar State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Ltd (Comfed) under its brand name Sudha.

A car rally will also be flagged off from Dilli Haat by the state’s industry minister Renu Kumari on Thursday.

The Centenary Car Run will cover 2,700 km and will travel through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Kanpur, Allahabad apart from other places before culminating at Patna on March 28.
