Games’ chiefs unfazed by firing near Jama Masjid

Neither the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) nor the Organising Committee (OC) is overly alarmed by the firing near the Jama Masjid and don’t consider it a threat to the Games.

"By the looks of it, the Games were not the target," said CGF CEO Mike Hooper. "Our security advisor is taking stock of the situation and will report to us as soon as possible."

Hooper said the CGF’s advice was that everyone should stay calm. "As of now we are satisfied with the security arrangement the stakeholders have provided us," he said.

"Such incidents happen now and then in big cities. One thing is for sure, it is not related to the Games,” Lalit Bhanot,
secretary-general and spokesperson of the OC, told HT.
