Games lane rule starts from Sunday
From Sunday, Delhiites would have to brave heavy jams, as for 12 hours no traffic would be allowed on stretches on roads marked for GWG.
For the next 25 days the Delhi Traffic Police would be out on the streets in full force to maintain the 'exclusivity' of the Commonwealth Games lanes across the city.

Starting from Sunday morning, Delhiites would have to brave heavy jams, as for 12 hours no traffic would be allowed on these stretches.
To make matters worse, the traffic police have said additional roads might be converted into exclusive lanes but it would be done as and when required.
“To facilitate Games related traffic, exclusive Games Lane would be maintained from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on certain stretches. These exclusive lanes will be from Games Village, NH -24, turn left on Ring Road up to Barapullah flyover, Fourth Avenue, Lodhi Road, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ata Turk Marg and Panchsheel Marg. The exclusiveness of Games Lane on this stretch would be maintained from tomorrow till October 16,” said Satyendra Garg, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
He added that till the public is specifically informed, they would be able to use Games Lane on other stretches. The police added that from Sunday any person who breaks into the Games lanes would be heavily fined.
“The fine of Rs 2,000 will be in place from tomorrow. People are expected to give precedence to Games related traffic even on roads where exclusive Game Lane is not operational,” added Garg.
