Girl murder: Cops recover dagger

The Delhi Police on Sunday recovered the dagger and the dupatta.

Om Yadav, 28, who was arrested for allegedly killing the schoolgirl after luring her to his flat in Dwarka, confessed to the crime.

Yadav is in custody of the police for four days.

The accused, a resident of Hastsal village in Uttam Nagar, had allegedly force-fed 16-year-old Juhi Jha four bottles of sedatives, police officers investigating the incident said.

On Sunday, the police also raided the chemist shop from where Yadav had purchased the sedatives. “Yadav planned to kill Jha when she turned down his sexual advances. As she knew him, it was not difficult for him to lure her to his relative’s flat in Dwarka, where he killed her. We have recovered the dagger and the dupatta,” said V Renganathan, DCP (west).

The accused has been changing his statement every now and then, Renganathan added. After she went missing for two days, Jha’s family had to run from one police station to another to lodge a case after officials cited jurisdictional issues.

Finally, a case was registered at the Vikaspuri police station.
