Rajesh Kumar (43) had smashed nine-month-old Harshit’s head on the floor and slit the throat of his brother Anshul (5) with a broken piece of glass.

All this was done while their mother was home.

“The offence committed by the accused would shake the confidence of the people in a social institution...the crime was committed in a most diabolical and horrendous manner showing extreme depravity,” said a bench headed by Justice Pradeep Nandrajog.

The prosecution said Kumar killed the children as their father Mukesh Sethi had refused to help him financially.
