Power officials, however, claimed there was no change in demand for electricity.

IAC activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal had appealed to Delhiites to switch off power from 7-8 pm to protest the 23% hike in power tariff.

Rajiv Kakaria, member of GK I residents welfare association said, "Yes, we had switched off our lights completely to express solidarity with the cause. I took a walk in my colony and saw several households were in dark in response to the call."

Kakaria said had the IAC team had gone door-to-door to spread awareness about the protest, the response would have been better.

But power department officials claimed there was no change in the electricity demand during that time period.
