The suicide note left by Gaurav Patil, a native of Nashik, mentioned that he was “leaving to know the truth of life”. Incidentally, the victim’s flatmate told police that Patil had been reading philosophical books — including some on the truths of life — for a while.

Patil, who graduated from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode, also had an MBBS degree from a Mumbai college. He was working as a consultant with IMS Health Information and Consulting Services at Barakhamba Road since July 2012.

“At 9.40am, Patil jumped from the eighth floor of Ashoka Estate building and a call was made to the police control room. He was immediately taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” a police official said. “A two-page suicide note written in English has been recovered from his pocket. We are examining it.”

The note did not hint at a clear reason behind the drastic step. “Please don’t conduct any investigation, as I hate paperwork. Thanks to everyone who supported me at any stage of my life,” it read. Patil, who lived in Patel Nagar, also mentioned that he wants his vital organs to be donated.

Police are now scanning CCTV footage gathered from cameras installed in the building. They are also taking the help of a handwriting expert and waiting for his family members to arrive to start investigations.
