In-laws held for lecturer’s murder in Pitampura

A man has been arrested along with his 18-year-old son for allegedly murdering his son-in-law in Pitampura, in northwest Delhi, last month, reports HT Correspondent.

A man has been arrested along with his 18-year-old son for allegedly murdering his son-in-law in Pitampura, in northwest Delhi, last month. The victim, identified as M.G. Dekate (41), worked as a lecturer at Pant Polytechnic in Okhla.

Dekate apparently wanted a separation from his wife, as she was less educated than him. The couple often had heated arguments with each other. Dekate’s wife had moved to her parents’ house in Nagpur few days ago.

The two accused have been identified as Balaji Khushal Chapre (50) and his son Prajwal Balaji Chapre (18), who is a student of Class XII.

“On October 12, a day prior to the murder, the two (accused) had a heated exchange of words with Dekate and they decided to teach him a lesson. They boarded a train from Nagpur and reached Delhi. They went to Dekate’s flat in Pitampura and stabbed him to death the same night,” said N.S. Bundela, DCP (northwest).

On October 13, he was found dead and when the police reached the flat, they found the doors ajar and the body lying on the floor with multiple injuries. The household articles were intact and there was no ransacking.

Earlier, Dekate had informed his relatives about threat to his life by his in-laws.

“After committing the murder, the accused changed their clothes, kept the blood stained clothes in a polythene and left for Nagpur by train. While leaving, they also took away the mobile phone of Dekate. While they were in train they threw the polythene bag containing the blood-stained knife and mobile phone when they reached somewhere near Agra and Dholpur,” said the DCP.

The blood-stained clothes of accused persons have been recovered from Parvati Basin near Dholpur. The knife and mobile phone are yet to be recovered.

Nine call centre employees held

Nine call center employees were arrested on charges of spreading nuisance in Dwarka, in southwest Delhi, on Friday night. The drivers of both the vehicles were also arrested. The police said they were drunk.

The police said two groups of call centre employees left from Gurgaon in two different vehicles on Friday night. The race started from toll tax booth and took the form of a brawl at Amber High Under-bridge.

The police arrested all the nine persons and later registered a case. They were later released on bail.
