Indira Gandhi remembered on birth anniversary

Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday led the nation in paying homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 91st birth anniversary.

Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday led the nation in paying homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 91st birth anniversary.

Ansari and Singh paid floral tributes to the former premier at her memorial in 'Shakti Sthal' in New Delhi.

Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Union Minister Ajay Maken, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leaders Motilal Vohra and Mohsina Kidwai were among others who paid tribute to Gandhi.

Singh also released tricolour balloons on the occasion while noted artiste Abhay Rustom Sopori played the santoor.
