Eager to solve local issues, he was seen frequently consulting Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, a Delhi resident, who shared the Bench with him.

In another case, he directed the Railway Board to consider the suggestions of experts on issues of public safety for the Katra-Qazigund rail link project, connecting Jammu to Srinagar, after it was alleged that apprehensions about the current alignment had been ignored.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit and other judges. Justice Murugesan's family was also present.

Born on June 10, 1951, Justice Murugesan was appointed as a judge of the Madras high court on March 2, 2000. This was more than 24 years after he enrolled as a member of the Bar on August 27, 1975.

He was made a permanent judge of the Madras high court on June 13, 2001.
