Uma Khanna, wife of Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna, passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
Uma Khanna, wife of Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna, passed away on Sunday after a brief illness.
She was 66-years-old and was admitted to the Liver and Biliary Science Hospital in Vasant Kunj four days ago for a minor illness, the office of the Lt Governor said.
After an infection in the liver and sudden failure of vital organs early on Sunday, she breathed her last at 4.25am.
She is survived by her husband, elder daughter and a son.
Uma was actively involved with many social and cultural organisations and took part in relief work for victims of Ladakh cloudburst ad and flood and Bihar floods. She was also president of Young Women's Association and Delhi TB Association and vice-president of the Delhi Red Cross.
Uma was cremated at Lodhi Colony crematorium on Sunday.
Speaker of Delhi Assembly Yoganand Shastri, Chief minister Sheila Dikshit and ministers in the Delhi government attended the cremation.
