“Keeping in view the security and safety of the passengers, DTC has issued guidelines to its staff. The bus crew will not leave the bus unattended at the terminals or on roads even during their rest intervals or breakdowns,” said a DTC spokesperson. All the conductors have been counselled to remain vigilant and keep an eye on the passengers and their luggage.

The government has also announced free travel for women in DTC buses on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, which will be celebrated on Friday, between 8am to 5pm. “This facility will not be available on AC and Inter-state buses,” the DTC spokesperson said.

Talking about safety of Delhi passengers, the spokesperson added, “If any unattended or suspicious material is found in the bus, the crew has been asked to inform the police immediately. The officials have also been instructed to remain mobile at the terminals.”

All the unit officers and security officials have been instructed to allow the entry of people in the depot only after carrying out proper checking of their baggage.
