Lok adalat settles 4,700 disputes

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Saturday organised 'Lok Adalat' in all the six district courts in the city in which over 4,700 cases were disposed of and compensation of over R73 lakh awarded to aggrieved parties.

The Lok Adalat, organised on every second Saturday of the month, were presided over by judges of district courts here and 55 benches were constituted for disposal of the cases.

A total of 4,793 cases were disposed off out of which bulk was under the Negotiable Instrument (NI) Act.

"Fifty-five benches were constituted which disposed of a total of 4,793 cases, out of which, 4,474 cases were related to Section 138 NI Act, civil, electricity, traffic, criminal compoundable offences, MCD, etc," a DLSA statement said.
