Additional Sessions Judge Umed Singh gave the jail term to Delhi resident Jaipal Singh after holding him guilty under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The judge imposed a fine of R1 lakh on Jaipal.

His contention, that the case property was tampered when it was taken by the officials to the police station, was also dismissed by the court.
