Man held for murdering mother of rival who gave him HIV infection

The friends of the accused apparently told him that he was infected by a HIV positive sex worker sent by his domestic help’s son, Anil, to settle scores with him. To take revenge, he murdered Anil’s mother.

The police have arrested an HIV positive man who killed a domestic help because he believed her son was responsible for his medical condition. The accused and the help’s son, both mini-bus drivers, were engaged in a bitter quarrel over passengers.

The friends of the accused apparently told him that he was infected by a HIV positive sex worker sent by the slain domestic help’s son, Anil, to settle scores with him. To take revenge, he murdered Anil’s mother, police said.

The domestic help was found murdered in outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar in April and the accused had been on the run since then.

“The accused found that he is HIV positive when he got his medical tests done after kidney pain. He was told by his friends that he was infected after Anil sent a HIV positive sex worker. On learning this, the accused decided to take revenge but by then Anil had shifted to Bihar.

Anil’s mother worked as a domestic help here. The accused killed her and also fled to Bihar,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
On April 21, Anil’s mother Shanti Devi was found murdered in Vijay Vihar Phase-2 resident with multiple stab wounds on her body. Her head was crushed with a stone. The police after a probe came to know that a driver was involved.

The accused was arrested from his native village on Thursday and after producing him in a Bihar court, the Delhi Police brought him to Delhi on transit remand.

During questioning, the accused told police that he and Anil used to have regular arguments over passengers on their route.

“They also often visited sex workers. In April, the accused went to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for treatment of kidney pain. Several blood tests were conducted after he was found to be HIV positive. Later, Anil told his friends that he had sent a HIV positive sex worker to the accused to take revenge after a heated argument,” the officer added.

As Anil shifted to Bihar soon after this incident, the accused decide to target his mother. On April 21, he saw Shanti in a narrow lane near his house and stabbed her with a pair of scissors and crushed her head with a stone.
