The Delhi Police have arrested a 35-year old man, co-owner of an export company, for killing a Lajpat Nagar-based woman and dumping her body in the forests of Jharkhand.

The victim, Geeta Vaid, allegedly went missing in July and her body was recovered from the forests of Giridih in Jharkhand a few days later.

The police later found that her boyfriend Sanjay Surana was in touch with her and he became the prime suspect. During investigations by Giridih Police, it came to light that Vaid was in relationship with Surana.

“She was insisting him to marry her. In April last year, Surana refused to marry her after which she threatened that she would lodge a police complaint against him. She went missing in July. It also came to light that Vaid went to Giridih with Surana’s servant Dalip on July 4,” Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south), said.

Giridih Police, meanwhile, conducted raids at the Lajpat Nagar residence of Surana, who belongs to Churu in Rajasthan. But he was found absconding.

Vaid worked with Orange Overseas, an export company in Lajpat Nagar, as manager for the past six to seven years. She got married in 1998, but got separated from her husband.

A Giridih court had issued NBWs against Sanjay Surana and his servant Dalip. Jharkhand Police have been informed about the arrest and they are on their way to take him in custody. Further investigations are on.
