Man robbed of 'Rs 1.5 lakh'

A 40-year-old grocery store owner was assaulted and robbed by two motorcycle-borne assailants in north Delhi's Shastri Nagar area on Friday night, police said. According to the police, the incident was reported from Shastri Nagar's A-block at 10 p.m.

"Krishna Kumar Gupta was on his way home when two assailants on a motorcycle waylaid him and demanded the bag that he was carrying," said a senior police officer. While Gupta's family said his bag contained Rs 1.5 lakh, the police denied the claim.

"A police vehicle took Gupta to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital. He was later referred to the Sushruta Trauma Centre in Civil Lines," the officer said.

"We have registered a case at the Sarai Rohilla Police Station," the officer said.
