The west Delhi police on Monday arrested Mukesh Kumar from Moti Nagar area along with his accomplice Akbar (19) following a tip-off about their presence in the locality.
“Mukesh is fond of Hindi films and his friends told him that he could be a film star. He thought he will be a film star born in a slum cluster. He wanted to be a model before becoming a film star,” said V Renganathan, DCP (west).
The police said Kumar wanted to get his modelling portfolio done with the robbed money. “He came in contact with anti-social elements and started to commit petty offences. On April 14, Mukesh and his gang robbed four passengers and a driver of an auto rickshaw while they were going to New Delhi Railway Station,” the DCP said.
Mukesh hails from Bihar and belongs to a poor family. He has studied till Class 5 and used to sell clothes on footpath.
