Delhi Police Commissioner YS Dadwal on Thursday claimed they have arrested five people for their alleged involvement in robbing 11.4 kg of gold worth Rs 53.5 lakh, and Rs 2.3 lakh in cash from the branch office of a Kerala-based finance company eight months back.

DU graduate Santosh Singh, who was sacked by the company in mid-2008 on the charge of stealing gold ornaments, allegedly conspired with others to loot Manappuram Finance Company in Shalimar Bagh.

During his period of employment, Singh came to know about business transactions of the company and accumulation of gold ornaments at its office.

The police also arrested Mintu Giri (23), Harish Kumar (26), Shankar Das (28) and Mithai Munni Lal (72), a Jaunpur-based goldsmith who allegedly received the stolen articles.
