Omprakash Aggarwal, who was due to retire on Monday, was found dead in his cabin aboard the Royal Rajasthan on Wheels after the train pulled into Delhi's Safdarjung Station around 7am, said Sanjay Bhatia, additional deputy commissioner of police (railways).

"The tourist train arrived at Safdarjung railway station after a week-long visit to Rajasthan on Sunday morning. Aggarwal was found unconscious by a train attendant when he went to serve him tea during its stoppage at the Safdarjung railway station," said additional DCP Bhatia.

Police officials said Aggarwal was rushed to the Safdarjung Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The post-mortem will be conducted on Monday.

Meanwhile, the police said prima facie medical examination had revealed that Aggarwal, who was attached to the train's Jhunjhunu staff, had died due to a heart attack.

"The reason for his death will only emerge after the post-mortem examination is conducted. We are awaiting the report and will initiate the proceedings as per law," Bhatia added.
