Mayawati writes to PM, wants more security

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking for more security because of an alleged threat to her life, according to reports.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking for more security because of an alleged threat to her life, according to reports.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief has said she fears for her life.

The security of BSP president Mayawati has been scaled down to that of a 'former chief minister'.

According to a government official, the security personnel deployed at her residence in Lucknow and Delhi have been reduced to her present status of former chief minister.

The strength of her security personnel at these places was earlier around 400, the official said.

The number of vehicles in her convoy has also been cut down to ten from forty.
