MCD Officials neutral on split issue

To avoid getting caught in the tussle between the BJP-led MCD and Congress-led Delhi government over the civic body’s trifurcation, the MCD’s executive wing has adopted a neutral stance. A source said, the civic agency had held a meeting on October 11, wherein all officers were asked to give suggestions on the issue.

“The Delhi government had asked suggestions of MCD officers on the trifurcation issue. Officers are wary of giving views as it may lead to a problem with the BJP or Congress, so they decided to forward the same that were cleared in MCD’s special House meeting,” said a senior official. CM Sheila Dikshit met Union home minister P Chidambaram on Thursday to press for early trifurcation of MCD.
