Member of a cheaters' gang arrested

Delhi Police has arrested Ram Gopal, a member of such a gang, following investigations into a complaint by a senior citizen.

"The gang had executed about 300 such cheating incidents in Delhi and NCR. They target senior citizens by giving gifts to them," ACP (East) K C Dwivedi said.

The arrest came following investigations into a complaint filed by Om Prakash Khurana of Geeta Colony.

On June 16, Khurana was going to his house from his shop on a scooter when two boys approached him. One of them touched his feet by saying, "Tau ji Ram Ram. Because of your blessing I have a transport company and have purchased a flat in Laxmi Nagar. You should come and see it."

Saying this, the man sat on Khurana's scooter and brought him to Priyadarshani Vihar.

"There he pointed out towards a flat by saying that this flat is purchased by him. Khurana congratulated him and started his scooter to move ahead. The youth then said it was his birthday and he wanted to give him a gift. He called his friend on his mobile to bring a gift.

"After a few moments, another person came there with a camera. He gave it to Khurana. Thereafter, the complainant claimed, one of the boys hypnotized him and removed the gold ring and gold bracelet from his arms. They left the spot by saying that they are just coming back," Dwivedi said.
