MHA to approve trifurcation of MCD by Friday

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit will have home ministry’s approval to her plans to trifurcate the MCD possibly by Friday. The law ministry cleared the proposal to split the MCD into three bodies on Thursday.

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit will have home ministry’s approval to her plans to trifurcate the MCD possibly by Friday. The law ministry cleared the proposal to split the MCD into three bodies on Thursday.

Sources said home minister P Chidambaram’s formal approval was expected by Friday.

The Delhi government needs presidential approval for amendments to Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1956. Dikshit is keen to pass the law and trifurcate the MCD ahead of elections to the local bodies in April.
