MNC worker hacked to death outside aunt's house

A 25-year-old executive was murdered on her aunt's doorstep in Karol Bagh area of the capital on Friday evening.

The assailants struck when she had walked barely half a kilometre in a lane leading to her aunt's house at about 7:30 pm, said Sandeep Goel, joint commissioner of police (central range).

Kaur, who got married two years ago and had been residing with her husband at south Delhi's Nanakpura since, was apparently paying a surprise visit to her cousin to congratulate her on becoming a mother.

Though the police denied it, it was learnt Kaur herself was pregnant.

"We are probing the case from all possible angles and expect a breakthrough very soon," said Goel.

A police official, who is not authorised to speak to the media, said CCTV footage from the spot led to the identification of the two assailants.

The police said Kaur was about to ring the doorbell of her aunt's residence when the two scooter-borne men stopped by and one of them hit her with the meat cleaver twice---first on the chest and on her arm when she fell.

"As she screamed for help, one of her relatives rushed outside to see her lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to hospital where doctors declared her brought-dead," said a senior police officer.

The police said the crime seemed to have been executed by professional killers. Kaur's husband, who was the last person to call her, is being questioned.
