Earlier, 25 year old Priyanka Srivastava had gone missing from near her residence on Feb 15. Her family had lodged a kidnapping case against Anup Sahai on March 5. Both Sahai and Srivastava are presently missing and police have failed to trace them so far.

Speaking to HT, Nandini Sahai, the godman’s mother - said that her son became mentally unstable after his spiritual guru’s death a couple of years ago and that he severed ties with his family three years ago.

“The girl’s family is behind his disappearance. They have kept him at an isolated location and did not speak to me since the incident. In my complaint, I have requested the SSP to lodge an FIR against the Srivastava family and get my son rescued,” Nandini Sahai told HT over phone from Gorakhpur.

Ghaziabad SSP Raghubir Lal said suitable action would be taken after investigations. On the other hand, the victim’s family rubbished Nandini Sahai’s allegations and expressed unhappiness over the delay in police action to find her.

Last week, police recovered Sahai’s cars and some photographs showing Sahai and Srivastava performing ‘wedding’ rituals at a temple.

SP A.K. Vijeta said the ‘marriage’ took place at Arya Samaj temple near ISBT Kashmiri-Gate on March 3 and that the marriage certificate was recovered by the police from temple authorities.
