NCW chairperson Girija Vyas on Saturday had distanced herself from comments of the commission member, Nirmala Venkatesh stating, that the pub can only serve food to guests, not liquor.

Irked at the conduct of Venkatesh in Mangalore, WCD minister Renuka Chowdhury rushed a two-member team, headed by joint secretary Kiran Chadda, to Mangalore on a fact-finding mission. The team will also look into allegations of irregularities leveled by some pub owners against Ventakesh.
