It was a satisfying day for the four Delhi Police personnel who were injured in the encounter. Despite the pain, they smiled at their achievement.

When HT paid them a visit at AIIMS trauma centre, they were cracking jokes lying on the hospital beds. One of them, Station House Officer Suresh Kaushik, was discharged early. The rest — Assistant Sub Inspector Ashok Kumar, Constable Virender and Constable Raghubir — were waiting to be discharged.
“Thanks, it does feel great when your work is appreciated,” said one of them.
On being asked if they were afraid at any point, another constable snapped, “There is no room for fear in our profession. These incidents don’t scare us, they bring a renewed sense of enthusiasm within us to perform better.”
The doctors at the trauma centre said they have received minor abrasions. “There’s nothing to worry,” said Dr Sushma Sagar.
