More than 60 trains were rescheduled.

The trains that got delayed include Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Garib Rath and scores of mail/express trains.

“The phone lines were jammed the whole day with queries about delays,” said a Northern Railway spokesman.

“The fog is affecting (rail) services across North India.”

Some of the passengers who could not confirm the extent of the delays or the rescheduling of their trains turned up at the stations.

They only ended up being stranded at the waiting rooms already bursting at the seams since Saturday.

Some of the trains such as the Purushottam Express was late by 17 hours, while the Magadh Express was delayed by 15 hours.
