Kapadia is a top operative of the pro-jihad faction of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and is in the custody of Madhya Pradesh police.
Kapadia was suspected to have assisted Indian Mujahideen’s alleged operations chief Atif Ameen, now dead, to plot the September 13 Delhi blasts, said a senior Special Cell officer requesting anonymity.
“He was in Delhi before the blasts and had even otherwise kept regular telephonic contact with Ameen,” said the officer.
