Pranab flags off solar passenger car

Delhi Technological University's (DTU) first time initiative —Solaris — a solar powered passenger car was flagged off by President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday, HT reports.

Delhi Technological University's (DTU) first time initiative —Solaris — a solar powered passenger car was flagged off by President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday.

"With a speed of 120 km/hr, the car is a zero carbon emission vehicle and completely eco-friendly. It has a sedan shape with a seating capacity of two and an option of adding three more seats," said a DTU official.

The car will also represent India at the Sasol Solar Challenege to be held in South Africa, between September 15 to 29.
